Yes, as far as I know, all of my family and friends are safe. I'll have to check around, though...
What a tragedy...I keep thinking it didn't happen, and then it hits me like a punch in the stomach. It's real. I just would like to know how in the world that happened...it crumbled like a graham cracker. That's not supposed to happen.
I completely agree. The bridges are all inspected which makes me wonder if they are doing a thorough enough job, and if it will happen again. It is so heart-breaking. That school bus was so lucky. If one kid had gotten on the bus a few seconds later they would have ended up in the Mississippi. Thankfully nobody i know was hurt (as far as I know), but i still can't get over it.
I work pretty close to the bridge because I'm at the U of M. We took a walk over there on Thursday and there were tons of people crowding around trying to get a look. The police looked really frustrated trying to keep people back. It seemed sad to me how many people were just gawking and making a spectacle out of it, even though I know it probably came from caring about the victims and wanting things to be okay.
All of my family and friends are okay, and I am very glad that they are! But this a very devastating event in Minnesota history, and someitimes I can't even register it in my mind that something like this has even happened! It seems as if the twin towers have fallen all over again! But it feels like this isn't believable because it hit so close to home! I went down on friday at the Metrodome Holiday Inn parking lot and got a view of it and I had to bit my bottom lip from crying it was to much! But my heart, love and prayers go out to everyone who were affected by this tragic event!
